Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority Expands Direct Connect Program with Uber and Lyft, Pinellas County Florida, 2016

  • Date Enacted: Oct 26, 2016

After finding success in a partnership with Uber to subsidize rides for residents, The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authoirty (PSTA) is expanding the pilot program as well as adding Lyft to the list of partner operators. The program is designed to help solve the first/last mile problem that currently exists with the current public transportation infrastructure. PSTA will subsidize Uber, Lyft and United Taxi rides by up to $5 for each ride that begins or ends at a designated bus stop.

Rather than issue an RFP, PSTA issued a contract for services and made it open to any provider that could fulfill those services.  For reference, the PSTA contract is available for download below.
