If the bicycle has an electric motor and can exceed 20 km / h, it is no longer considered as a cycle. The general rule of motor vehicles therefore applies.

Areas Where Operation is Prohibited:
Cycles must travel on the bike lane. If no bike lane is available, they must transit on the right lane of the road unless they face the following cases :
i. Particular dispositions established in the 1st and 2nd points of article 116
ii. In unidirectional roads, in case there is an exclusive bus lane on the right side of the road. In this situation, cycle driver must transit on the left side of the road. In bidirectional roads, this dispostion will apply only if there is a central ridge.
iii. When the cycle is to turn left, what should be done in accordance with the rules of Title X.
b) Cycles may circulate exceptionally on sidewalks, adapting their speed to pedestrians, and respecting their preference at all times, when there is no cycle path and only in the following cases:
i. In the case of drivers under 14 or elderly.
ii. In the case of people circulating with children under 7 years.
iii. In the case of people with disabilities, as well as those with a reduced capacity for mobility.
iv. Even if there is a cycle path, when state of such path, the road, or the weather conditions make it dangerous to continue.
If circulating on the cycle path or roadway is impossible, the driver of the cycle may use the sidewalk exceptionally, always respecting the priority of the pedestrian and the vehicles entering or emerging from buildings. This implies moving at pedestrian speed, away from buildings or closures, and getting off the bike if there is a strong pedestrian flow.
It is forbidden to use or to park the bicycles in areas reserved for loading and unloading on the road at the time dedicated to said activity, in parking areas for people with disabilities, in prohibited parking areas under signaling, at public transport stops and at crosswalks. Should preferably be parked in the dedicated areas, always ensuring the free movement of pedestrians. Bicycle parking is only and exclusively reserved for this type of vehicle.
