- Zone(s) – Small, targeted geographic areas within an agency’s wider service area where microtransit service is available.
- Partial agency service area – Microtransit service is available in parts of an agency’s service area, but not the full service area
- Full agency service area – Microtransit service is available throughout an agency’s service area
- Deviated fixed route – A hybrid of fixed-route and demand-response services where the vehicle stops at fixed points, but can deviate its course to some degree
Q8: For purposes of this survey, land-use types are defined as:
- Urban – A community that is 12 miles or less from the center of the nearest city and with a household density of more than 1,314 households per square mile.
- Suburban – A community 12 miles or less from the center of the nearest city with a household density of fewer than 1,314 households per square mile, or a community greater than 12 miles from the center of the nearest city with a household density of over 106 households per square mile.
- Rural – A community more than 12 miles from the center of the nearest city with a household density of 106 households or fewer per square mile.

Q15: For purposes of this survey, types of stops are defined as:
- Virtual stops – Riders are directed to pick-up and drop-off locations within walkable distance of origins and destinations, allowing for grouping of passengers and more efficient dispatching and routing.
- Door-to-door – Vehicles arrive at the trip origin and destination points, and the operators may assist passengers getting to and from the vehicle.
- Curb-to-curb – Vehicles arrive at the trip origin and destination points, but the operator will not assist passengers getting to and from the vehicle.
