The CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) and a local, Chicago-based carsharing service, IGO launched their joing smart card program, Chicago Card Plus – IGO (CPP-IGO). With the launch of this smart card in January 2009, users were able to both unlock the IGO vehicles as well as ride CTA services. In May 2013, Enterprise Holdings Inc. acquired IGO. In August 2013, the CTA released a new smart card, Ventra. Ventra is a smart, contactless card that can be used for riding CTA buses, trains, and Pace buses. Howevever, IGO is no longer integrated with the new card. Since then, Ventra can be used for CTA transit and the old CCP-IGO card can be used for IGO access.
