The voters of Seattle, Washington approved in the November 2014 general election a resolution to increase service throughout the Metro transit system and to fund additional transit programs in the service area through the Seattle Transportation Benefit District. The funding is provided through a $60 vehicle registration fee and a 0.1% sales tax, which are projected to generate over $45 million in revenue. The funds have been used to both save routes from elimination, as well as late night service across the system, and increase service frequency.
