WMATA, which operates as Metro has hired a consultant (VHB) that is studying the effect of Uber and Lyft on transit ridership, as part of a larger forecasting and planning project. The report is due in the summer of 2018. While the Washington Post article noted some of the people interviewed noted the convenience of TNCs over transit, the former’s biggest service peaks come after the Metro’s 1 AM closure. This is consistent with SUMC research.
