Public agencies and community groups in Tompkins County, NY were selected to participate in the FTA MOD On-Ramp program to support integrating various transportation services and systems into a shared platform.
This mobility-as-a-service pilot program is part of the Federal Transit Administration’s Mobility on Demand On-Ramp program providing free technical assistance to develop the project concept and business plan. Eventually, the pilot aims to integrate the transportation services offered by various mobility providers in the Ithaca area – including on-demand services though the County’s social services department, fixed-route bus service operated by a local non-profit, and several VTOs – into a single online platform. Riders would then be able to plan, book and pay for multimodal trips though a single platform, increasing mobility for residents in Ithaca and the surrounding rural communities.
