In partnership with Silver Cab and Regency Taxi, Metro is offering a transportation alternative to MetroAccess for customers in Maryland: the Abilities-Ride program. Through this program, eligible users can book a subsidized, wheelchair-accessible, taxi ride through either taxi company, given that the trip begins and ends within the Maryland MetroAccess service area. Rides can be booked online or via app, and advanced reservation is not required. Regarding cost, customers pay the first $5 of each ride, with Metro covering the next $15. (Any remaining fare exceeding $20 is covered by the customer.) A user can book up to four rides a day. Abilities-Ride aims to provide users with a flexible travel option, while also saving Metro money.
