The Legislature of Alabama created this law to establish a Joint Legislative Committee to study the potential impact of autonomous vehicles. The committee is composed of four members of the Alabama Senate and four members of the Alabama House of Representatives, all appointed by the Senate President and the Speaker of the House, respectively. The committee’s study is focused on the issues of public safety, economic impact on the state and local level, and the extent of current state legislation that may affect the testing of autonomous vehicles in the state of Alabama.
