Summary
MTS Taxicab Administration has contractual agreements with the cities of El Cajon, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Poway, San Diego and Santee through June 30, 2019, to license and regulate certain for-hire vehicles including taxis. Taxicab Administration personnel determine owner eligibility; inspect vehicles; issue permits; monitor compliance with administrative and operational regulations; investigate passenger complaints and compliments. Key Definitions
"Taxicab" shall mean every vehicle other than a vehicle-for-charter, a jitney, a nonemergency medical vehicle, a sightseeing vehicle, or LSV which: (1) Transports passengers or parcels or both over city public streets. (2) Is made available for hire on call or demand through "cruising," at taxi stands or by telephone to destination(s) specified by the hiring passenger.
