Autonomous Vehicle Study, Utah, 2016

This bill requires the study of autonomous vehicles in the state of Utah and defines the terms associated with automated technologies for certain state agencies. The bill states that the Department of Public Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles, and the Department of Transportation will study autonomous vehicle regulations and standards to facilitate the testing and operation these vehicles in Utah. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators will aid in the study to provide suggestions on safety features and regulations for special-case traffic and weather conditions.
