5 minutes Date Launched: Aug 15, 2018 Pilot Project Timeframe: 6 Month Pilot
The Baltimore Department of Transportation is partnering with dockless bike and scooter provider, Lime, and dockless scooter provider, Bird, to replace the city’s existing bikeshare program with a new dockless pilot program. Through this partnership, scooters and bikes will be available for use throughout the city. As part of the program, the participating dockless vendors will also ensure that bikes and scooters are available in neighborhoods where 40 percent of households make $25,000 or less a year. Since, unlike the previous bikeshare program, dockless scooters and bikes can be parked anywhere, this pilot aims to provide Baltimore residents and visitors with access to convenient, low-cost, multimodal transportation.
