The goal of the Transit Priority Program (TPP) is to promote development mixed-use development that is accessible to transit. As a result, the program aims to increase transit use while decreasing GHG emissions related to personal vehicle miles traveled.
When adopted by a city and within the designated TPP boundary, a developer is required to build 20 percent affordable housing, as well as include parking for bikeshare, provide a carshare vehicle for the first 20 units and one carshare for every 50 units thereafter. In turn, TPP projects qualify for expedited and reduced permitting costs, as well as a height and density bonuses.
