City Begins Shared E-Scooter Program, Redwood City, CA, 2022

Redwood City, in partnership with Bird Scooters, has brought shared e-scooters to the community. Redwood City residents and visitors are now able to check out the vehicles through the Bird mobile application. Bird offers a 50% discount to low-income riders, Pell grant recipients, select community organizations, veterans, and senior citizens, and offers two free 30-minute rides per day to health care workers and emergency personnel. 

E-scooters are ideal for short-distance trips and connecting to other forms of transportation. Shared e-scooter programs like this are important for providing communities with additional friendly transportation options, and are important in helping reduce congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.
