City Launches New Paratransit App, Alexandria, VA, 2022

The City of Alexandria, VA, in partnership with Via, launched a mobile app for their paratransit service, DOT, allowing the city’s paratransit users to book and pay for rides. Through the DOT app, users can also track their rides and receive notifications when vehicles are approaching. DOT is also extending the service zone to the surrounding Washington, DC area. Fares, program eligibility, and DOT’s vehicle fleet will not change. 

Transportation is essential to help seniors and persons with disabilities access jobs, healthcare, education, and more. Efforts like this help make it more accessible and easier to use. The city hopes the app will improve efficiency and quality of service for its users.
