5 minutes Date Launched: May 21, 2018
The City of Yonkers has partnered with Lime to launch LimeBike. This program is the first dockless bikeshare to come to the New York City area. As of May 21, residents of Yonkers can access any of the local LimeBike bicycles by downloading the Lime app and scanning the QR code on the bike of choice. The bikes are GPS- and 3G-enabled, so users can locate and unlock them via smartphone. Rides cost $1 per 30 minutes of use and bikes can be parked in any permitted area once the trip is complete. The City of Yonkers hopes that this bikeshare will encourage a healthy, sustainable alternative to driving, reduce emissions, and provide the Yonkers community with a convenient, reliable, affordable, and enjoyable way to get around.
