Convention Center Financing Surcharges

A $10 Convention Center Financing Surcharge is imposed on every vehicle-rental transaction in Boston. However, the state made an accommodation to carsharing organizations by deciding to assess the surcharge only on the first carsharing reservation per annual membership contract. The government stipulated that active carsharing members would need to pay the $10 fee only once per year. The state sales tax still applies. Citation: TIR 05-1
