The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA), the University of North Texas (UNT), and Lyft have partnered to launch a late-night, safe rides program for students. Through this program, from August 17 to December 15, UNT students can reserve free, on-demand Lyft rides for trips taken anywhere within the designated UNT Lyft Zone, between the hours of 2am to 7am. Up to 120 free rides are available per person. Students can access these rides by downloading the Lyft app and creating a personal account. To be eligible for the program, an individual must be 18 years of age or older and currently enrolled at UNT. This partnership aims to provide students with a safe, reliable way to travel across the UNT campus and get home at night.
