The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) entered a partnership with Enterprise Carshare to allocate 125 Metro-owned parking spaces at 45 different Metrorail stations. The program is intended to expand the reach of the public transit system by increasing access for those who do not live or work in close proximity to a station.
The program also had an equity component, as the awarded carshare operator(s) must have at least one car in each DC ward and at least as many cars in private parking locations as public permits.
Enterprise carshare no longer operates in DC.
