Lyft Geofencing Congested Streets, San Francisco, California, 2018

The City of San Francisco and TNC companies Uber and Lyft are currently discussing an exchange of designated curb space in exchange for data. The death of the city’s mayor before finalization has stalled negotiations, but in the mean time Lyft has announced their own geofencing pilot for a street to be determined. This pilot would re-direct pick-up/drop-offs away from the busiest streets to a side street with less traffic.
