MTA Metro-North Railroad is seeking a company to provide carshare and/or car rental services at outlying stations to improve station access and help New Yorkers get out of town. This service is currently provided by Enterprise Rent-a-Car, whose contract soon expires.
Updated (2/24/2017): Zip Car and MTA Metro-North Railroad have launched the Hudson Valley Car Share initiative. Through this partnership, Zipcars will now be available for use at nine Metro-North stations in the Hudson Valley. A total of 14 Zipcars will be parked and ready for use in dedicated, clearly marked station parking spots, and reservations will include gas, insurance, maintenance and 180 miles of driving per day. The availability of these Zipcars is part of Metro North’s Ride2Drive program, an initiative aiming to increase mobility and facilitate both local travel and tourism. The program is expected to expand to 24 more Metro-North stations in New York State within the next year.
