Big Blue Bus (BBB), the City of Santa Monica’s municipal bus operator, and non-profit social services organization, WISE and Healthy Aging, have partnered with Lyft to launch MODE (Mobility On-Demand Every Day), a ridesharing program intended to transform the City’s existing Dial-A-Ride service. As of July 1, Santa Monica residents who are 60 years of age or older, or who are 18 years of age or older and have a disability, are eligible to order rides through MODE after registering with WISE & Healthy Aging. Rides cost $0.50 per trip and can be reserved via smartphone, via computer, or by contacting the MODE Call Center. Both Lyft rides and wheelchair vans can be booked. This partnership aims to offer reliable, on-demand mobility.
Contributed through a partnership between the Shared-Use Mobility Center, ITS America and the Federal Transit Administration’s Mobility on Demand Program.
