As part of its Michigan Mobility Challenge, the Michigan DOT announced in October 2018 that it was awarding $990k to Bosch-owned company SPLT in an effort to improve mobility options for the elderly and transportation impaired in rural Michigan. The grant is intended to support SPLT’s efforts to “enhance its existing healthcare transportation coordination technology with improved alerts and reminders to reduce cancellations and no-shows” for its passengers heading to appointments in the Traverse City area (MDOT). In collaboration with the Bay Area Transportation Authority, Benzie Transportation Authority, and Allegan County Transportation, SPLT is also developing a dedicated mobile app for users to enroll and navigate the available services, and it will share rider data with the partnering transit agencies.
