The City of Seattle has partnered with Uber to mobilize people during the closure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The viaduct will be closed for two weeks from April 29th to May 13th, 2016. The partnership will use UberHOP, a new service which allows riders be picked up and dropped off at pre-determined stops to carpool along pre-determined routes. During the viaduct closure, UberHOP will move passengers to and from locations in West Seattle to water taxi terminals. The Alaskan Way Viaduct is a 2.1-mile, double-deck highway running along Seattle’s central waterfront. It is a vital part of the region’s transportation system, carrying over 100,000 vehicles per day.
