Summary

The National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) released a white paper Curb Appeal: Curbside Management Strategies for Improving Transit Reliability that proposes a rationalization of curb space to account for active transportation, transit, and new mobility options. The report includes case studies of interventions, such as the “red lane” zones for bus travel lanes and stops in Chicago and the SFPark dynamic parking pilot.

Additionally, NACTO presented a webinar by Danielle Harris, Senior Transportation Planner at the SFMTA Office of Innovation entitled “Curb Your Enthusiasm: Managing High-Demand Curbside Passenger Loading Zones,” which discusses the city’s potential changes.
