As of June 28, the City of Worcester and Zipcar have partnered to bring carsharing to residents, visitors, and businesses. Through this partnership, six cars are available downtown for reservation by the day or by the hour. Users may drive up to 180 miles per day and reservations include both gas and insurance. Additionally, local businesses are eligible to receive discounted driving rates when using the cars on weekdays. Vehicles can be reserved via Zipcar’s mobile app, online, or over the phone, and are parked and picked up at designated spots. Through this program, the city hopes to alleviate the demand for parking by providing an alternative to car ownership.
