IndyGo is partnering with the Pathway Resource Center, a social services non-profit, to offer microtransit to residents in the Far Eastside of Indianapolis. Specifically, the service, called Driven 2 Success, is available to residents across four ZIP codes. Riders must enroll ahead of time to use Driven 2 Success, and rides must take place within a five-mile radius of the Pathway Resource Center. Customers can only ride on Driven 2 Success to approved locations/for specific trip purposes: work, medical, childcare, school, grocery stores, and food pantries. Individual rides cost $2 and can be paid through pre-purchased vouchers. Eligible participants can buy single-ride vouchers or a ten-ride pass for $18 on the Driven 2 Success website. Customers must book their rides with at least 90 minutes’ notice by phone or through an online portal. Passengers are encouraged to request their rides at least 12 hours in advance for the best outcomes.
IndyGo and the Pathway Resource Center are funding Driven 2 Success largely through a $143,000 grant from United Way of Central Indiana’s Social Innovation Fund. As a targeted microtransit service, partners hope that Driven 2 Success can reduce barriers to accessing essential community resources. In the long term, IndyGo hopes that creating the Purple Line, a bus rapid transit service, will improve mobility options for residents in the Far Eastside area of Indianapolis. In the meantime, Driven 2 Success can reduce significant gaps in transit coverage for specific trip purposes.
