5 minutes Date Launched: May 12, 2023
After ten years of planning and preparation, Shasta Living Streets, an organization dedicated to making Redding, CA a more walkable, bikeable, and prosperous community, has officially launched a bike depot in the city’s downtown. The bike depot, located next to Redding’s downtown Transit Center, will include various amenities and services, including long-term bike parking, visitor services, youth programs, e-bike charging, and access to nearby trails. The bike depot will also house a station for the newly launched Redding Bikeshare, where residents and visitors can check out pedal-assist e-bikes to ride throughout the city.
The bike depot and bikeshare are part of a joint initiative from the McConnell Foundation and Shasta Living Streets, who received funding through the Clean Mobility Options program for this project. In addition to helping people in the area to live an active car-free or car-light lifestyle, the bike depot and bikeshare will help complement the city’s bike network, economically benefit the downtown area, and drive tourism.
