Proposed 50-cent tax on TNCs, Cook County, IL, 2016

Summary

The Cook County Board of Commissioners has proposed a new, 50-cent tax on ridehailing trips that begin or end in Cook County. There is already a 52-cents-per-ride tax imposed on these ridehailing services by the City of Chicago.

A motion was made by Commissioner Boykin, seconded by President Pro Tempore Steele, to refer 16-5634 to the Finance Committee.  The motion carried by a 16:0 vote.
