Denver RTD’s Call-n-Ride system is a zone-based demand responsive transit service that connects general public riders to fixed route transit, park-and-rides, or other destinations within a service zone. It is the most extensive flexible transit program run by a US public transit agency. Though it is a general public service, all the vehicles are wheelchair accessible.
The service allows online booking of on-demand rides (up to about 10 minutes ahead of time) and fare payment using any RTD fare media (including online payment). The program includes a subscription booking option for recurring rides. Geographically, the service centers on specific service areas that offer “flex routes,” which circulate on a largely fixed route during morning and evening rush hours and allow riders to hail a ride with or without a reservation, while also offering the ability to book on on-demand ride elsewhere within the zone.
As of early 2019, the service was offered in 20 zones across the Denver metro area. The RTD rebranded the service as “FlexRide” in February 2019.
