Through a partnership with Xcel Energy, which is offering funding and technical assistance, Saint Paul-based HOURCAR announced that it would convert its carsharing service to an “all-electric, hub-based, and one-way” fleet by mid-2020. The hub-based, one-way system allows users to return the zero-emissions electric vehicle (ZEV) to any available charging station, thus eliminating the need for round-trip use. HOURCAR is also aiming to increase its fleet from 60 to 100 vehicles.
