CARTS Expands Microtransit Service to Marble Falls, TX, 2022

The Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) is expanding its microtransit system, CARTS Now, to serve the community of Marble Falls, northwest of Austin. With CARTS Now, customers can request shared curb-to-curb rides in real-time to and from anywhere within the city limits. Customers can book their rides using a mobile app or by calling a central hotline. Via serves as the booking and routing technology partner. As a promotion to customers, rides on CARTS Now are fare-free in Marble Falls for a limited time. In Marble Falls, CARTS Now operates from 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday.

Marble Falls is the fourth city near Austin that CARTS Now operates in after first launching service in Bastrop and Taylor in July 2021 and Lockhart in May 2022. Customers can use CARTS Now to connect to various destinations across Marble Falls, like parks, senior centers, shopping centers, grocery stores, and medical facilities. CARTS also has one fixed-route bus station that customers can connect to or from on their transportation journeys if they need public transportation to go elsewhere in the Austin area. This expansion of CARTS Now demonstrates that microtransit meaningfully meets the transportation needs of many in communities outside of Austin.
