City of Rancho Cordova & Lyft partner for “Free $5 to Ride”, Rancho Cordova, CA, 2019

The City of Rancho Cordova has partnered with Lyft to launch “Free $5 to Ride,” a pilot program subsidizing trips to/from Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) light rail stations in Rancho Cordova, California. Through this program, riders will be provided with a coupon code that automatically covers up to $5 towards Lyft rides to/from the eligible stations. Starting in May, the discount code can be used up to 60 times per month. “Free $5 to Ride” is supported by a $75,000 grant from the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG). The pilot aims to explore whether incentives making it cheaper and easier to access SacRT light rail stations will increase public transit use and help to reduce car trips, emissions, and congestion.

Contributed through a partnership between the Shared-Use Mobility Center, ITS America and the Federal Transit Administration’s Mobility on Demand Program.
