The City of Trenton, Michigan has teamed up with Bird to bring shared electric scooters to the city. Approximately 50 e-scooters have been placed throughout the community for residents and visitors to use, accessible through Bird’s mobile app. Bird will offer community pricing, which includes a 50% discount to low-income riders, Pell grant recipients, local nonprofits and community organizations, veterans, and senior citizens. The company will also offer two free 30-minute rides per day to qualified healthcare and emergency workers.
Shared e-scooters provide a low-cost, environmentally-friendly transportation option for communities, allowing people to access restaurants, trails, businesses, and other attractions without using a car. Trenton hopes that this addition will reduce car trips, traffic congestion, and carbon emissions.
