Grant to regional transit agencies for paratransit reservation platform improvements, MI, 2019

Summary

Various transit agencies in Michigan – including the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan, the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority, the Detroit Department of Transportation, and the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) – are collaborating in an effort to develop an online platform that enables paratransit users to book and manage trips more easily. The initiative was backed by a $1 million grant in January 2019 from the Michigan DOT as part of its larger Michigan Mobility Challenge which aims to close mobility gaps for seniors, persons with disabilities and veterans by exploring innovative technology and service models.
