Rideshare Program Launched for People with Dementia, Milwaukee, WI, 2022

Melanin Minded LLC, a Milwaukee organization designed to help people of color with resources, services, and support, unveiled a rideshare plot called “Navigator Transportation” to assist with transportation specifically for individuals in the early stages of Alzheimer’s or with other forms of mild dementia and cognitive impairment, as well as their caregivers. The service will use its own app and drivers, who will also assist riders getting from their homes to the vehicle, and from the vehicle to their destinations. 

The organization is currently working on recruiting and training drivers who can provide safe and dementia-conscious transportation. 

With many people with dementia lacking reliable transportation, this program intends to bridge the gap by connecting people to resources, services, and activities, and making sure they can still be an active part of the community.
