5 minutes Date Launched: Sep 1, 2022
The City of Bradenton has launched a shared e-scooter program in partnership with Bird. Upon its launch, residents and visitors have access to 200 e-scooters to use for short trips across downtown Bradenton. Riders can unlock the e-scooters through Bird’s mobile app, but a smartphone is not required; users can email TextToRide@Bird.co and, after setting up an account, can unlock a scooter via text message. Individuals working in healthcare can borrow the scooters for free twice daily for up to 30 minutes.
Plans also exist to add electric bicycles to Bird’s micromobility fleet in Bradenton and to expand service to a nearby community, Palmetto. Micromobility can be a valuable tool in bolstering commerce in tourist-oriented communities like Bradenton.
