Envoy, a carsharing company, has expanded operations to Honolulu. Currently, Envoy Hawaii has only a fleet of one electric Nissan Leaf at the Halekauwila Place Apartments in the Kaka’ako neighborhood. Visitors, residents, and employees at the building can use Envoy’s app to borrow the vehicle hourly or daily.
While there is only one vehicle in Envoy Hawaii’s fleet, the company is framing this development as an opportunity to market and expand to other parts throughout Hawaii. Notably, Envoy is the first electric carshare provider in the state and they hope to site its vehicles at multifamily housing developments. Envoy’s expansion into Hawaii can integrate electric vehicles into the shared mobility environment.
