The City of Leavenworth is launching RideLV, a microtransit service that offers shared rides to and from anywhere within city limits. Through RideLV, customers can request rides to and from anywhere within Leavenworth in real time or up to seven days in advance. Rides and dropoffs can also occur at four designated areas outside the Leavenworth city limits, including a dialysis center. RideLV operates from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Customers can book rides using a smartphone app, an online portal, or a dispatch line. Single-ride fares cost $2. RideLV has a fleet of three wheelchair-accessible vans. RideCo is the booking and routing vendor for this service. The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) and The Guidance Center, a community-based organization, will also help with support and operations, respectively.
RideLV is funded through various federal, state, and local sources, including a formula grant for rural areas, sourced through the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Multimodal Transportation, and a countywide sales tax. KCATA has worked to offer different means of on-demand transit to its customers over the past several years. With RideLV, residents and visitors to Leavenworth will have access to microtransit in an area without sufficient access to public transportation.
