5 minutes Date Launched: Sep 19, 2022 Pilot Project Timeframe: 2 years
The City of Morgan Hill is launching a new curb-to-curb microtransit service. The service, called MoGo Morgan Hill Quick Ride, allows customers to request real-time shared rides to and from many designated virtual stops across the city limits using a smartphone app, telephone, or web portal. Customers can also use the microtransit service to connect to or from fixed-route transit services provided by Caltrain and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). A standard fare for a single ride on MoGo Morgan Hill Quick Ride is $2.50, with discounts available to youth and people with disabilities. Customers can pay their fares through the app or with exact cash on board the vehicle. All microtransit vehicles are ADA-accessible. RideCo serves as this service’s booking, payment, and routing technology vendor.
The City of Morgan Hill is funding this microtransit pilot through VTA’s 2016 Measure B Program. Revenue for Measure B comes from a voter-approved countywide sales tax. MoGo Morgan Hill Quick Ride’s start coincides with another microtransit service in Milpitas, in northern Santa Clara County. Hopefully, MoGo Morgan Hill Quick Ride can meaningfully serve customers looking to get to or from areas in Morgan Hill that fixed-route transit does not reach.
