The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA), serving the Albany, NY region, launched DRIVE carshare, a zero-emission carshare network. Customers can rent vehicles 24 hours a day, seven days a week by using the MioCar app or making a reservation online. After a one-time $20 application fee, rates are $5 per hour, plus $0.35 per additional mile past 150 miles. CDTA conducted a three-month long pilot program in 2022, and is rolling out the full program in phases. During the first phase, users are able to pick up and drop off the vehicles at six initial locations:
Electric carsharing can benefit a community by providing a zero-emission alternative to individual car ownership, allowing people to get around affordably and sustainably. CDTA anticipates that DRIVE will “provide Capital Region residents access to a convenient car share service that is reliable, affordable, and environmentally friendly.”
